Save the land crab?

(assuming bent posture, hushed tone, and nervous right index finger-flicking habit)

Um, could someone tell me the story behind the curious and suddenly popular websearch for land crabs? I'm baffled.

And I thank you for your time.

I assume everyon read this post and wondered what land crabs were, as opposed to the crabs that EVERYONE is familiar with.

Yeah, you know, the real crabs. The old fashioned walking-diagonally-carrying-one-claw-bigger-than-the-other crab. The granddaddy crabs that scuttle.

Well, I'm slowly learning not to make assumptions and I'm trying to keep an open mind on this particular one, since the old post I wrote nearly a year ago which is getting a sudden and quite peculiar influx of traffic recently (and in a specific global pattern) seems to indicate that people looking for a picture of a land crab are being quite specific in their search. Or their lateral linking. Or something.

Haven't figured it out yet but my crack team of staff hounds have their noses close to the trail and in the meantime, I'm simply curious about it.
